RILEY1612, Back To School!

Hello, it's time for a Riley and Company Challenge! This weeks challenge is hosted by Jovita, and the challenge is Back To School!

I used School Boy Riley and SchoolGirl Sophie. I coloured them with copics. I think I'll give these to my Niece & Nephew, and their school colours are purple and grey.

I've always loved this rolo pencil idea, and wanted to give it a try, found this tutorial. I did make a couple changes, I used silver cardstock instead of foil, and I scored the yellow piece every 1/2".

eraser - regal rose (or pink) 1" x 3.5"
pencil - yellow 4.5" x 3.5" score every 1/2"
metal ring - silver scardstock 3/8" x 3.5"

Please join us in our challenge, and upload your creation to the Riley and Company Blog. If you upload to any forums please use the keyword RILEY1612. You can find more details on the Riley and Company blog,  there is a randomly drawn winner for each challenge!

Lauren's Sliding Pop-Up Card!

Hello, I loved making the sliding pop-up card so much that I had to make another! This is for my Niece Lauren, she turned 10 on February 13th, and we are having our family Birthday Celebration for her this weekend!

Lauren loves to play school, so I used that as a theme for my card! You can find a picture and video tutorial here that shows how to make the sliding pop-up card!

My card base is real red. For the pop up background, I started with a piece of heavy white cardstock & then created the scene. I used a set from cdstamps.com called Little Learners (5842) and stamped the books along the bottom. I coloured them with copics and then stamped in the subject, which also comes in this set. I wanted it to look like a book shelf below the chalk board, so I added 1/8" strips of creamy caramel that are lightly sponged.

The chalk board frame is also creamy caramel, stamped with the wood grain background stamp, and then edges sponged with creamy caramel & close to cocoa. Then I attached it to black cardstock & glued the whole thing onto my pop-up background. I used some stamps for the words on the blackboard, stamped in craft white & I also wrote in her birthdate and name with a white pen.

Schoolgirl Sophie is from Riley and Company. I stamped her onto white with memento tuxedo black & coloured with copics.

I used acetate for the pop up mechanism so you can still see the background.

For the front slide out part, I wasn't sure what to put since the chalk board already says Happy Birthday! So I went with the best wishes sentiment from the Everyday Sayings set. The X's & O's along the edge are from a MS Valentine set from a couple years back!

RILEY1710, It's a Sketch!

It's Tuesday, that means time for a Riley and Company Challenge! This weeks challenge RILEY1710, is hosted by Silke, and she has a fabulous sketch for us to try!

Today is the first day back to School here, so I thought Schoolgirl Sophie would be perfect for todays challenge!

Sophie was stamped with memento tuxedo black, coloured with copics and cut out with a circle nestie.

The card base is black. I layered this with cherry cobbler with a rectangle cut out of the center. I stamped it with basic grey and a woodgrain stamp then sponged the edges with cherry cobbler. I used craft white ink to stamp the letters & numbers in the background, hoping they looked like chalk!

I stamped some letters & numbers onto white, and punched them out with a circle punch. I finished it off with some ribbon!

Everyone is welcome to play along. Make sure to upload your creation on the Riley & Company blog so we can all have look!

Recipe
Stamps: Schoolgirl Sophie. woodgrain,
Paper: Cherry cobbler, black, white
Ink: memento tuxedo black, craft white, basic grey, cherry cobbler

School Sophie & a New Link!

Hello, well in my quest to catch up after being away for a week, I managed to include 3 challenges on this one!

This is the new School Girl Sophie, isn't she cute! I love the little tilt of her head.

I combined the Friday challenge on the Hanna Stamps forum HSC83 to use dew drops, with the colour challenge CC232 using cocoa, vanilla teal, and the sketch challenge SC241!

I used the #'s and letters from the Teacher Hanna set for the background. Sophie was coloured with copics.

A while back I added a link to my Husbands ebay store. Today I added a link to the Craft Items in the store. You can find it on the right sidebar. He always has different items so keep checking, he may have something you're looking for!

Have a Great Day!
