HOT Flashes!!!

Hello, I made this card for the Friday Challenge Hosted by Cindy Haffner on the Hanna Forum.

We were to use snow of some kind!Well I think it's time for a funny card! Laughter can be the best medicine sometimes. Hopefully I still have a sense of humor when my turn comes!

The Lazy Days stamp set, combined with snow reminded me of the commercial a while back, where the woman comes outside on a snowy windy day to turn on the AC! I can’t remember what the commercial was for, only that it had something to do with menopause & hot flashes!

The card base is blue bayou, with a layer of ruby red. The image was stamped with burnt umber onto watercolour paper. I coloured her in with SU markers, and then masked her so I could stamp the bricks. Then I coloured the bricks, and covered them with crystal effects.

The trees, SU Lovely as a Tree, were also stamped with the burnt umber, and I used a light wash of soft sky for the sky! The snow is covered with a subtle sparkle that you can't really see in the photo. I washed water over the snow, and then spread around the stardust pen with the water brush. Some areas are also covered with dazzling diamonds.

The sentiment was made using the justrite letters. My original plan was to have her surrounded by snowbanks, but then I decided I liked the snowflakes!

Thanks for Stopping by!

Hanna Hanna Hanna

Well what a whirlwind of activity at my crafting table the last couple of days! Stamping & challenges seem to have taken over my life!!! I bet you can relate!

This card was made for a challenge on the Hanna Stamps forum, during their release week. We were to use 2 or more embellishments. I also used the CC186 colour challenge at SCS, we were to use chocolate chip, really rust and baja breeze.

The baja breeze was sponged with close to cocoa and the edges distressed.

With Thanksgiving (in Canada) and Halloween coming, I decided to use the Trick or Treat mini for the first time.

The card base is chocolate chip, with a layer of really rust, and a layer of baja breeze.

I stamped the scrarecrow on the baja breeze, dp from basic greys archaic, and watercolour paper. I also stamped it on blue bayou which had already been stamped with the canvas bg stamp and was a scrap leftover from another card.

I cut out all the pieces and layered them on the baja breeze, popping up his head.

The bale of hay was made with a piece of cardstock wrapped with raffia.

Two of the bats are stamped in the background, and one was cut out & glued to the sentiment which was punched out & popped up.

I used a spiral clip with ribbon & some buttons with raffia for embellishments.

For the third challenge, we were to do some kind of embossing, either dry or heat. I managed to do both without trying!

I was really pleased with how this turned out! The card base is ruby red that was stamped with the weathered bg in black.

I ran a piece of the black/red coredinations cs through the CB with the skeleton scroll EF. I used some of this to back the images. I love this cs, it only need light sanding to bring out the other colour. I also distressed the edges.

Pirate Riley was stamped on watercolour paper, and cooured with SU ink & a Koi water brush. The sentiment was stamped on watercolour paper with versamark & embossed with black EP. I sponged lightly around these images.

The sentiment has 4 tiny brads in the corners, & it’s popped up.

The bats are from the Martha Stewart punch.

There is a weekly challenge every Friday on the Hanna Stamps forum, for HSC36, we were to make a 3-D Halloween project! I decided to make a candy jar for my Husband. I love these jars, I actually bought a whole box of them at a local liquidation place.

For the top, I stamped the skull & swords from the pirate Hanna in versamark onto a white circle I found in my scrap bin. I embossed it with black embossing powder, then sponged on some more mustard & creamy caramel to dirty it up! I used my circle nesties to cut a slightly larger circle from the black/red coredinations. I distressed the edges, layered them & glued to the top.

Pirate Riley (he’s so cute) was stamped on watercolour paper, then coloured with SU ink & a koi waterbrush. I used the oval nesties to cut him out & layered him on a slightly larger black oval. The edges are also distressed and sponged to dirty it up. The bats are from a Martha Stewart punch, and I just bent up the wings & glued their bodies down.

I put a black eyelet in the top of the oval, threaded so black faux leather through & then added ribbon to hang it from.

For the last project, every month during the release party on the Hanna Stamps forum, there is a challenge posted.. This challenge usually involves using one of the new sets released that night, and has to be entered before the party the following month!

Last Month we were to make something using the new Kiss the Cook Hanna..

My SIL Wendy, likes to bake and often makes cookies or treats for the dogs. She’s even given them as gifts…lucky dogs!

A while back, my SU demonstrator Sue, showed us how to make a clear envelope photo book, you can find the tutorial on SCS here. I decided to make one but I turned it into a recipe book for dog & cat treats!

The book was made with black for the back, and DP from the DCWV Pet Stack. I also added a strip of DP along the front edge and the inside cover is lined with paw print dp.

All the stamps are from Hanna Stamps. I stamped Hanna (Kiss the Cook), the cat (Cats Hanna) and the dog ( My best friend) onto watercolour paper. Everything was coloured with SU ink & markers except Hanna’s apron which is paper pieced. The dog has little rhinestone gems on his collar, and all the images are layered on black. I used the nestie scallops circle & oval for the animals. I added the brad bone so it looks like that’s what the dog is looking at!

I used the jumbo brads from SU and threaded the double face satin through & tied.

Inside I added recipes I found on the computer. They were printed on white cardstock, and matted with colours that co-ordinated with the DP cover. I used some of the other stamps from the sets to decorate the pages as well.

That’s it for me today! Now I have to clean my house that was neglected for stamping!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Any comments are appreciated
