The Birthday Girl is a Sewing Fashionista!

Hello, well it's been quite a week! I didn't get much accomplished, Olivia and I were both sick on her Birthday which was Monday. I didn't even have a card made for her, because I was too busy preparing for the Mystery Party we were having and the Riley release!

Today we had her family Birthday, which means my Mom, Sister, Brother and their families were here for dinner and cake of course! So last night a made Olivia's 11th Birthday card, and I won't tell you how long it took, lol...lets just say when I sat at my craft table I only knew I wanted to use the Sew What set from Mark's Finest Papers!

Then after seeing all the vintage type cards made for this weeks C4C72, I decided to give it a try.

The card is 5.5 x 5.5". The card base is regal rose, with a layer of black and dp from K&Co. black & ivory pad.

I first stamped the image onto vanilla with black 2 times. Then again in pretty in pink. I cut out one black skirt with about 1/4" of the body for a waist band, and the whole pink outfit. I did some shading around the edges. Tim Holtz antique linen was used on the black skirt & pretty in pink on the pink outfit. The black skirt was glued to the pink outfit only at the waistband. Then I wrapped black ribbon around the waist and added some pearls.
The outfit is only attached to the main panel from the waist up. I added a couple of dimensionals inbetween the layers of the skirt to keep it popped out.

The flowers in the corner were made with the dienamic rolled flower. I need some practice with that! I added little back pearls in the centers. The leaves were made with the sizzix little leaves die.

The sentiment is from the Sew what set. The border was made with the fleur de lis die, it's popped up and I finished it off with some MS ribbon & a button from my stash!

This is the inside of the card. I used 2 sets for this, Daffodil & Anise and Flourishes & Frame, both from Mark's Finest Papers.
Reminder, check out the Totally Stampalicious Monday challenge, my card will be a bit late!
Have a Great Day!

Speedy's Challenge #40, Valentine!

Hello, it's time for a challenge from Speedy the Cat's Friends! This weeks challenge is to make a Valentine card!

Upload your Valentine to the Mark's Finest Paper Blog, by Friday February 4th at 3:00pm, and your will be entered to win a FREE stamp set. The is one set drawn for every 50 entires! Use Mark's Finest Papers stamps, and you will be entered twice! You may enter as often as you like!

I decided to make my Valentine a little more masculine. When I looked at the birch trees, from Stinky Situation, I thought of the hearts & initials you often see carved in trees, so that's the look I was going for.

I punched some hearts from sticky notes with a fiskars heart punch. I positioned them on white cardstock and stamped the birch trees over them. Then I removed the sticky note hearts and used a fine tip marker to outline the hearts. The sentiment stamped in each heart is from the Hearts, Hearts, Hearts set. I also coloured very lightly between the trees with a copic BG10.

The card base is black. The next layer is cherry cobbler, crumpled, edges distressed and sponged. I also ran my ink pad over the whole piece to dirty it up.

I covered a chipboard heart with the red and sponged it. It's tied on with faux leather.

Have a Great Day!

TSMONDAY, Pinks and Reds!

Hello, sorry I'm late with this weeks Totally Stampalicious Challenge. We had a sleepover mystery birthday party for Olivia's 11th birthday party on Saturday, Olivia ended up getting sick, which of course I caught and today was her 1st day back to school, and my first day back to the craft table!

This weeks challenge is to use Pinks & Reds! I have no idea how I ended up with this, but here it is! I used the Cute Turtles stamp, and coloured the image with copics.

The card base is riding hood red, with a layer of white which I stamped flowers on in pretty in pink.

The image was matted with a riding hood red circle, and then popped up on a pretty in pink flower made with the Dahila shapeabilities. I scored all the points and sponged the edges. Each petal has a dimensional under it.

The greenery was made with the EK fancy swirl punch and the sizzix scribbles swirl die.

Not sure I love it, but it'll have to do!

Everyone's welcome to join in the challenge, there's always chance you my win something, and Guest Designers will be chosen from those who play in the weekly Totally Stampalicious challenges! Make sure to upload your card or project to the Totally Stampalicious Blog for your chance to win!

Have a Great Day!

I stamped Riley onto the scene I created, then glued on the Riley & Balloons I had coloured & cut out.

Riley January Sneak Peek Day #3!

Hello Out there, welcome to Day 3 of the Riley and Company Sneak Peeks! Today I'm showing you 2 more of the new Rileys being released this month!

First we have the new Cookie Riley, but I changed him to Sophie, it was easy and Riley didn't seem to mind...I think he's a bit of a cross dresser at heart! lol

Riley/Sophie is coloured with copics. I also stamped him/her again on scrap paper and drew on a little skirt. Then I cut the skirt out, and used it as a template to draw a skirt on dp. For the blouse, I just drew on a collar and (the right word escapes me) but the lines going done! I added dots with a copic and the buttons are tiny gems.

The card base is cherry cobbler with a layer of old olive embossed with the swiss dot EF. The dp is from October afernoon. trift shop. I also added a vanilla border made with a MS edge punch.

The flower was made with the sizzlits birds & blooms die and the little leaves die.

The sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings set!

The truth is out Riley is a party animal! lol I have several ideas for the new Poker Riley, this just happened to be the one that came to life first!

Riley was coloured with copics, and don't you love those cards!!! it's Basic Grey dp from the June Bug pad, it really reminded me of the design you often see on cards!

I sponged the edges with Tim Holtz antique linen. The band around the flask is Bo Bunny. Riley and the sentiment (from SU) are popped up!

Don't forget, tomorrow Thursday January 20th is the Riley Release and Blog Hop, at 10 pm est. There will be blog candy, all you have to do is leave a comment on each Design Team Members Blog for your chance to win!

I coloured Praying Riley with copics, and added some stickles to his hat! I think I might try adding some pj's to him next time too!

After seeing Cindy's card yesterday, it made me think of this stamp and stars so today I used the mojo Monday sketch, MOJO174.

The card base is marina mist, with a layer of so saffron embossed with the stars EF from Crafts-too. The dp is from DCWV Nana's Nursery. I matted Riley on a lacey circle and popped him up along with the stars. I finished it of with some ribbon!

Riley January Sneak Peek Day #1

Hello, It's day 1 of the Riley and Company January Sneak Peeks, and this is the New Celtic Dancing Riley, and he's dancing for joy because January's release is awesome!!!!

I coloured Celtic Dancing Riley with copics, cut him out with a nestie, then sponged the edges with Tim Holtz antique linen.

The sentiment is also new, I just cut it apart, sponged the edges and popped it up along with Riley.
The dp is from Basic Grey's jovial. I finished it off with some tiny brads and ribbon!
This is also for yesterday's Featured Stamper Challenge FS206.

Next up is the new Tool Time Riley! He's perfect for the handyman in your life. I coloured riley with copics, and added the T-shirt and pants just by using a fine tip marker to make a neckline & sleeves.
The tool box/treat holder was made using the sizzix #2 box. I cut 2, scored everywhere except the top, then glued then together. Then use an oval to make an opening for the handle. The dp I used was a scrap, so I'm not sure of the maker, sorry.
The sentiment is from Everyday Sayings, I used a 1.75" circle punch for the sentiment & backing along with a real red piece cut with a circle scallop nestie. Tool Time Riley is popped up!
All the Designers will have Sneak Peeks this week, so be on the lookout!
Please Join us for the Riley and Company Blog Hop this Thursday January 20, at 10:00 pm est, there will be lots to see and a chance to win some Blog Candy!

TSMONDAY, Masculine Gus!

Happy Monday, time for another fun challenge from Totally Stampalicious! This weeks challenge is to make a masculine card or project, and that's super easy when you have DIY Gus!

I coloured Gus with copics, and added some crystal effects to his glasses. I don't know if I mentioned it before, but when I found out Totally Stampalicious was going to bring Gus to life in stamp form, I came across this dp by Kaisercraft called Konstrukt and it seemed the perfect match. I had my local stamp store order a 6x6 pad for me, and I'm so glad I did. They aren't exactly your traditional male colours but I love it!

I used last weeks sketch challenge SC315. The card base is black, with a layer of white and then 2 of the panels are from the dp pad I mentioned above. The last panel is tin foil. I glued the tin foil to a piece of cardstock, then embossed it with the diamond plate embossing folder.

Gus and the sentiment are both popped up!

So come and join us, just upload your creation to Totally Stampalicious, and you may even win something! The Guest Designers will be chosen from those who particiate in the weekly challenge...how cool is that!

Congratulations to Lori and Julie for winning the February and March Guest Designer Spots!

Speedy's Challenge #38, Hearts!

hello, it's time for this weeks challenge from Speedy The Cat's Friends! This is challenge #38, and we're challenging you to add a heart to your card or project!

Play along for your chance to win awesome stamps from Mark's Finest Papers! Just upload your creation to the Mark's Finest Papers Blog. There is a set drawn for every 50 entries. Use Mark's Finest Papers stamps, and your name is entered twice, you can enter as often as you like!

The set Hearts, Hearts, Hearts is perfect for this challenge and many other occasions. I combined this challenge with this past weeks SCS colour challenge CC305 pretty cherry melon!

I stamped the heart three times, first in versamark and then the coloured ink. They are each embossed with iridescent ice EP. You can do this with any colour, just make sure to stamp in the versamark first so you don't stain the versamark pad.

I cut each heart out and layered them with dimensionals. The sentiment is also in this set, I used the tag shape 3 to cut out the sentiment and mat it.

You can see the glitter better in this picture.
The card base is cherry cobbler, with a layer of pretty in pink and then white embossed with little hearts.

It's finished off with some ribbon and a heart brad on a tiny heart punch out!

Check out what the other Design Team members made at the Mark's Finest Papers Blog, then join us for your chance to win!

RILEY0111, Birthday Surprise!

You can find Mark's Finest Papers Blog card here!

Hello, it's time for a challenge from Riley and Company! This weeks challenge is Hosted by Silke, and she has a fabulous sketch for you to try!

I used the new Gift Box Riley for my card today! This is really a great versatile stamp, because it can be used for so many occasions, like a Birthday!

I coloured Gift Box Riley with copics, and matted on navy then popped it up. The sentiment is from the new set called Everyday Sayings!

My card isn't square, it's the usually 4.25x5.5" card. The base is night of navy, with a piece of striped dp. The circle is daffodil delight cut with the pinking nestie & embossed with the swiss dot EF.

I bought this Fiskars present punch thinking it would go so well with this stamp, but it doesn't look exactly how I pictured...oh well!

Please join us in our challenge and upload your creation to the Riley and Company Blog! If you upload to any forums, please use the keyword RILEY0111.

Journal Jars!

Hello, I'm back again with some projects I made for Christmas! When I saw this project posted by shoregirl, I thought it was the greatest idea, specially since I know a few Girls with creative writing skills! So I sent her a pm, and she was kind enough to send a link to her Blog with links to prompt sites! I made one for Olivia, one for her Friend Daisy and one for my Niece Lauren, and they loved them!

I used the same stamp for each, it's called Betty the Bookworm (EH105) from Stamping Bella. I picked papers that I thought suited each girl, and coloured the image to match!
This is Olivia's. I bought a case of these jars at our local liquidation store quite a while back. They were really cheap, somewhere between $1 and $1.50.

This is Daisy's, yep I picked the paper for the fresh colours and the daisies! I also used the computer to right out some instruction, which just say to pick a prompt, glue it to the top of your page, and write your story!
This was for my Niece Lauren, who is quite an accomplished story writer at 9 yrs old! I included the same prompts in each girls jars, and there were alot! But some are about themselves, some start with if.... and some are more fantasy based! I know they will make for very interesting reading!
I don't know if you can see in the jar, but I printed out the prompts in two columns onto paper weight dp, in colours that matched the dp on the journals! I used a bone folder to curl each prompt, and I had so many I really had to stuff them in the jar.
These were a huge hit, I'm so glad they liked them!
Have a Great Day!

Christmas Slippers!

Happy New Year Everyone, I wanted to share some Christmas projects I made but didn't have time to post before Christmas!

I made a pair of these Christmas Slippers for each of our girls, aren't they the cutest thing! One of my favorite Blog's to visit is Valita's Designs & Fresh Folds, she has the most amazing ideas, and when I saw these slippers I just had to make them! You can buy the pattern from Valita, they are super easy to make, and good for so many occasions!
I used Stampin Up cardstock and designer paper for all 3 pairs. I was trying to make it easy and fast, because I swear I waste more time picking out the papers, so this really helped! I also finished them all off with a snowflake from shimmery white cardstock, a button and the fancy fibre!
Each slipper was filled with a special little surprise! I have bought or made the girls an ornament for the Christmas Tree every year, so this is going to be their ornament for 2010!
Wishing you the Best in the New Year!

Speedy's Challenge #36, Let's See Your New Stuff!

Hello, and welcome to Speedy The Cat's Challenge #36! This weeks challenge is easy, all you have to do is use something new on your creation! A big beautiful package of goodies arrived at my door on Wednesday, so I used this new stamp set, new paper and an embossing folder I bought a while ago but hadn't used yet!

Please make sure to upload your creation to the Mark's Finest Paper Blog, for your chance to win. There is a FREE stamp set from the next month's release drawn for ever 50 entries. You can enter as often as you like, but if you use MFP stamps, you will be entered twice!

So today I used the new 'Take A Peek' set from Mark's Finest Papers. I got a little adventurist since this card is for my SIL's Birthday so I decided to make a Tilt Card. The picture below shows him tilted a bit! I also used this weeks sketch challenge SC313.

I stamped the cute little raccoon in black twice, and coloured with copics. I punched one with a 3" circle punch, and cut out the other.

All the paper used is from Mark's Finest Papers, the DP is October Afternoon-Thrift Shop. The flowers embossed in the background were made with the Crafts-too flowers EF.

I added a little shimmer to the centers of the flowers with a copic atyou spica in turquoise and a tiny gem to the sentiment, which is also in the "Take a Peek" stamp set.

Have a Great Day!
Laurie
